Commercial PAT testing FAQs.

Question 1

What is PAT testing?

Accepted Answer

PAT testing is a practical process for checking portable electrical equipment. It combines a visual inspection with appropriate electrical tests to identify damage, faults or conditions that could make equipment unsafe to use.

Question 2

What does commercial electrical equipment testing include?

Accepted Answer

We inspect accessible equipment, complete the relevant electrical tests and record the results. Your programme can include appliances, extension leads, chargers, IT equipment, workshop tools and other portable items used at your workplace.

Question 3

How often should workplace equipment be tested?

Accepted Answer

The appropriate interval depends on the equipment type, how it is used, its environment and your existing maintenance controls. We can help you set a sensible, proportionate programme for your premises rather than applying a one-size-fits-all schedule.

Question 4

Will I receive a PAT testing certificate and report?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We provide clear records of the testing completed, including itemised results and certificate-ready reporting to support your equipment safety records.

Question 5

How much does commercial PAT testing cost?

Accepted Answer

Pricing from 89p per appliance. The final cost depends on appliance volume, site access, the type of equipment, the number of locations and whether the work needs to be completed around your operating hours.

Question 6

Can testing be planned around a busy workplace?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We plan testing around the way your site operates, helping to minimise disruption for staff, visitors and day-to-day activity. Tell us about access requirements, shift patterns or restricted areas when you enquire.

Question 7

Which areas do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We support commercial premises across London and the South East, including Kent, Essex, Surrey, West Sussex, East Sussex, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Question 8

What happens if an item fails?

Accepted Answer

We record the result clearly and identify failed equipment so it can be removed from service, assessed or replaced by your responsible team. We will explain the results and provide the documentation you need for your records.

Question 9

Are your engineers qualified and insured?

Accepted Answer

Our engineers are City & Guilds-qualified, insured and DBS-checked, with more than 20 years of experience supporting commercial sites.
