Compliant portable appliance testing for NHS trusts, hospitals, GP surgeries, care homes, dental practices, and private clinics — planned around your operational needs.
Why PAT testing matters in healthcare
Healthcare and care settings carry a heightened duty of care for electrical equipment safety. From patient-facing medical devices to staff workstations, kettles, and charging equipment, every appliance must be maintained in a safe condition. Our engineers understand the operational pressures of NHS and care environments and work around ward rounds, clinic schedules, and resident routines to minimise disruption.
CQC & regulatory context
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) expects registered providers to maintain safe premises and equipment. While PAT testing is not mandated at a fixed interval, a documented, risk-based electrical maintenance programme supports compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and NHS Estates guidance. We provide detailed test registers and certificates to support your inspection evidence.
We provide documentation suitable for CQC inspection evidence and NHS Estates records.

Legal obligations
Under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and CQC Fundamental Standards, NHS trusts, care homes, GP surgeries and private clinics are legally required to maintain all electrical equipment in a safe and serviceable condition. A documented PAT test register is your evidence of compliance during CQC inspections, HSE visits, and insurance assessments.
